"Going to College Should Be...Elementary!”
Kristen Costello, an LS major, SL2 alum and now Salinas grade school teacher, has been working with Dr. Scott Waltz to draft and publish an article out of her service learning-oriented Capstone project - a college club curriculum and implementation for upper elementary (largely first generation college) kids. Liberal Studies has just received confirmation from Educational Leadership - a very broadly read Educational magazine - that the manuscript has been accepted for publication this summer.
We congratulate her community partners: Erika Milford (teacher) and Annette LeTourneau (principal) at the former Marina Del Mar Elementary, her Capstone instructor , the SL2 program, the LS Department, and, of course, Kristen herself.
